Toasted Farmers Sandwich

This farmer sandwich is a fast snack for in between, but it is also suitable as a starter. Tomato slices give it a very juicy taste, the onions provide a rustic touch. Simply baked in the oven covered with cheese, served fresh and hot, it is also fitting as a fast summer dish, a snack, for a party, as an appetizer, as hangover breakfast or as a simple dinner. This dish also succeeds to absolute cooking beginners.

Slicing bread
Slice the bread lengthways. They should be about two centimetres thick. Spread crème fraîche evenly and thin on to the slices.
Cuting vegetables
Peal the onions. Wash the tomato and the pepper. Remove the seeds from the pepper and cut everything into rings. Slice the cheese in to strips. If you are planning to bake it with cheese in the oven, the last step is not necessary.
Spreading the filling
First put the ham on the slices of bread. Then use the vegetable slices as a garnish. At last, cover it with cheese. Preheat the oven to 180° C.
Letting bake
Now bake the sandwich in an oven for approximately 8 minutes. It's done when the cheese is molten.
Serving your sandwich
Cut the sandwich into slices and serve it hot. Ketchup and mayonnaise go well with this dish. This dish is a quickly prepared snack which is also perfect for hot summer days.
