carnival

Carnival, the foolish season, begins on Epiphany and ends with Ash Wednesday. This marks the beginning of the six-week Lent, the time before Easter. Among the most important dishes of the carnival are fat-baked desserts. The classic is the carnival donut, which is regionally also called Berliner. Yeast dough pastries are available in a variety of forms, such as carnival cakes or farmhouse donuts. Hearty meat dishes are also amongst the typical dishes in carnival.
